Shanahan, Kevin http://catalog.wrhs.org/collections/view?docId=ead/PG531.xml Kevin Shanahan immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, from Dublin, Ireland, in the 1950s. While living in Cleveland, he worked in refrigeration and taught Irish dancing at the West Side Irish American Club on Madison Avenue and West 98th Street. He was one of the main organizers of the first Cleveland Feis (competition) in the late 1950s. He taught several teachers at the Masterson School of Irish Dance, including the owner, Bobby Masterson. Shanahan and his wife Sally, have three children, Dennis, Colleen, and Erin. The family moved to New York in the 1960s. Living in New York, Shanahan concentrated on Irish drama, and performed in many Irish productions in New York. He and his family returned to Dublin, Ireland ca. 1980. The collection consists of images of Kevin Shanahan and native Clevelanders, in addition to out of state dancers participating at a number of Irish Dance competitions in Cleveland, Ohio.
